Project: Stella’s Furniture Gallery | Fall 2010
Duration: 8 weeks
Instructors: Danny Samuels and Nonya Grenader
The 24’ x 24’ x 24’ infill lot located in Houstin Midtown is an artifacts and furniture gallery for Stella, a fictional client.
A 4-foot thick wall dictated the circulation and programmatic organization of the interior. The wall extrudes past the bounding box of the building resulting in its strong architectural presence. The thick wall separates the entry and the exhibition space. The wall’s functions are created from different removal conditions resulting in a skylight, a storage room, display space, and an outdoor seating nook.
